Sew Your Own Scrunchies
Hey Girlfriends! Kris here! This post is part of a series of our weekly “Fri-yay Weekly Demo” series! Our lucky local customers love our weekly in-store demos. Every week we have a new demo at our demo table! I am going to be sharing these demos on our blog, along with releasing the products for those demos every Friday! Now you don’t have to be local to enjoy our in-store demos! Read about last week’s demo about how to select the perfect needle for every project here!
This week on our demo table we learned how to sew your own scrunchies! I know… totally 90’s! But this hair accessory is making a BIG COME BACK! Now you can customize your scrunchies with very little effort!!
You will need:
3-1/2″ x 22″ fabric scrap
9″ strip of elastic
Step 1: Cut 3 1/2″ x 22″
Step 2: Fold in half lengthwise, right sides together!
Step 3: Sew 1/4″ seam from raw edge, leaving 1″ on either end.
Step 4: Turn inwards, only halfway until the ends meet.
Step 5: Sew ends together.
Step 6: Turn out through hole made by the 1″ gap.
Step 7: Thread elastic through and tie it in a knot.
Step 8: Topstitch gap closed, with the knotted elastic inside.
Good luck girlfriends! I hope to see you using your new hair accessories online! To show us your fun new project, use the hashtag: #mygirlfriendsquiltshoppe
