Hey girlfriends, Kris here!
This past week I have been reflecting on the importance of “sticking together” through it all! Sometimes life gives us a bump or two in the road, am I right? We experience either sadness, heartbreak, loneliness, etc., and at times, you don’t know how you’re going to make it through! From personal experience, I know how crucial it is to have a set of “girlfriends”, by my side, who I know will be there for me during those times.. and hopefully we can be those “girlfriends” to you.
I decided to ask you for testimonials about this, and I was overwhelmed with all the responses. I received so many touching ones, I wish I could write them all! THANK YOU! But here are just a few…
“I believe girlfriends should stick together because we were meant to get through this life together, not alone. One of my favorite things about MGFQS is the sense of community, friendship, and belonging it provides. I’ve taken dozens of classes over the years (from the very beginning), and I’ve never registered to take one with anyone I know, but I have never felt like an outsider or unwanted. I’ve had fun every time and made new friends. It never ceases to amaze me how above and beyond the Girlfriends go to help everyone and make sure they have a positive experience. For me personally, MGFQS has provided a haven and respite from crazy mom brain, when I haven’t been sure if I was ever capable of anything besides changing diapers and cleaning messes. I can come sew at a class for a couple of hours and do something for myself. I’m so glad you’ve had the courage to follow your dream and worked so hard to make it happen, because it’s blessed my life so very much.” -Heather D.
“Especially since I have started working at My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe, I have come to realize that having a tight group of girlfriends is absolutely crucial to get through the hard times in life and the good times! Having someone to lean on that will always listen, cry with you, and cheer you on no matter what is such a gift. I love being a part of the Girlfriend’s community because I know exactly where I can go when I need a shoulder to cry on or a stellar pep talk!” -Mallory T.
“We understand. And we give great hugs as our tears and laughter mingle.” -Camellia S.
“We stick together because there is strength in numbers! When we gather on the same playing field, we receive validation for all the crazy things we say and do… AND most importantly, support for the insane amount of fabric and notions we are consistently willing to buy!” -Carillisa B.
“I have taken classes since the shoppe opened. Each instructor has a genuine interest in their students. There is no such thing as leaving a girlfriend behind. Also the employees work hard to know our names & they are always willing to help. I consider the Quilt Shoppe my home away from home.” -LeAnn H.
Again, thank you all so much for the kind responses. My heart is full.
As I was in the process of opening the quilt shop, I knew I wanted it to become a refuge for women all over. I wanted this to be a place where no matter your age, race, background, etc., you would feel welcomed and appreciated.
