A Guide to Piecing Triangles

1. Lay Out Your Triangles

Begin by arranging your triangles in rows. This helps you visualize how the final quilt will come together and ensures you have a clear plan for piecing. It’s helpful to lay out the triangles in the pattern you desire before sewing.

2. Sew Pairs of Triangles

Take two triangles and place them right sides together. Sew along the edge with a ¼” seam allowance. Press the seams open to reduce bulk and prevent stretching.

3. Continue Sewing Pairs

Once you’ve sewn your initial pairs, continue sewing additional pairs together. When done correctly, you should have ¼” dog ears at the end of each seam.

4. Assemble the Rows

With your pairs sewn and pressed, start sewing the rows together. It’s helpful to pin the points of the triangles to each other to ensure accurate alignment and prevent shifting.
